As the plot thickens for Man Utd’s striking situation, Will Keane could be the long-term answer. Only 17, the academy prospect has impressed in the Reserve teams and at under 17 and under 18 level.
As a second striker, it may be a little much to say that this wonderkid could be the new Rooney, but he has shown a goal scoring capability at youth level and is comfortable on the ball. He can create chances and make space for himself and others, and is a seemingly natural finisher.
After signing professional forms, he has quickly progressed into one of Fergie’s hottest prospects. And, he has shown a knack for scoring against Man City, always useful.
With Rooney still not back to his best form, the transfer rumours surrounding Dimitar Berbatov getting ever more common, and interest and loan enquiries being made for Federico Macheda, a lot of pressure has fallen on Javier Hernandez’s shoulders.
