Gaston Ramirez is another exciting young talent on the wanted list of Europe’s most high-profile clubs. Reports in Italy suggest that Liverpool have now moved ahead of the pack in pursuit of the Uruguayan’s signature as they prepare to offer Bologna £20m in the January transfer window.
A contract dispute between the Italian side and Ramirez led to the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and both Manchester clubs enquiring about his availability earlier this year.
A move away from the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara failed to materialise and the 21 year-old eventually penned an extension to his existing contract until 2016. However, speculation over Ramirez’s future continues to rumble on as the creative midfielder is keen to move on to a bigger club in order to cement his future in the Uruguay national team having recently broke into the side.
Liverpool’s interest in Ramirez is no secret. The Red’s have been linked with a move for the South American on numerous occasions this year and Italy’s Corriere dello Sport suggest they are now in pole position to land one of the most exciting young forwards in Italy. Bologna have so far managed to fend off interest from major European clubs but currently find themselves struggling at the foot of Serie A and will face a harder task to hold onto their prized asset this time around.
Ramirez would be an exciting acquisition to the Liverpool attack as boss, Kenny Dalglish looks to strengthen his squad in January and provide a more cutting edge to their play.
Uruguayan compatriots, Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates are already settled on Merseyside and could hold the key to persuading Ramirez to make a move to Anfield in January.
