It would not be a surprise if Everton were busy in the transfer market this summer, would it? Marco Silva’s side could do with some improvements in certain areas to help strengthen their squad, whilst they would also do well offloading some of their fringe men from the wage bill.
However, one man they thought they may have been able to do so looks like he will be returning to Goodison Park in the summer and could end up giving the manager a problem of sorts.
What’s the News?
According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Kevin Mirallas is not thought to have done enough for Fiorentina to keep him on a permanent basis and will subsequently return to Everton.
It is claimed the Toffees would have been in line to receive €7million (£6m) if the Serie A outfit were to take up the option within the loan deal, however, the Belgian is thought to be too old for La Viola to splash out a fee that high.
Mirallas returning to Everton could give the club a problem in the summer as they would have hoped he would have done enough to seal a permanent switch away from Goodison Park.
The Merseyside outfit will now have to work hard in the transfer window to try and find new potential suitors for the Belgium international and may also have to allow him to leave for a figure a lot less than the £6m they could have received from Fiorentina, as he will enter the final year of his contract.
The 31-year-old has clearly fallen out of favour with the Premier League outfit over the past few seasons, having spent the last part of the previous campaign with Olympiacos, where things did not exactly go to plan for him, before heading to Tuscany.
It is unlikely that Mirallas will have a chance to impress at the Toffees once he does return, with a number of other options available to Silva that he would surely prefer to use.
Everton fans, what do you make of Mirallas’ expected return? Do you think it will give the club an unnecessary headache in the summer? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
