Crystal Palace will be looking ahead to next season now that they have effectively done enough to secure Premier League football, and fans in the Transfer Tavern will be watching with excitement.
The Eagles will no doubt face a tough test in keeping Wilfried Zaha at the club as a number of Europe’s top clubs will be interested in signing him this summer, whilst they will also want to be adding a number of players to help strengthen their side.
However, one thing that will remain the same at Selhurst Park will be the status of the manager, according to a report from Sky Sports. It is believed that Roy Hodgson is planning for the future of the south London club with him remaining at the helm.
The former England boss took over early in the season when the Eagles looked destined for relegation, however, a string of positive results have more or less secured Palace’s status in the top-flight for another season, and Hodgson has hit back at rumours he may not be there at the end of the summer.
“I don’t have any plans in that respect. I don’t know why the previous two managers left,” he told Sky Sports when asked about his future.
“I’m hoping when I get to speak to Steve Parish and the other directors, we’re going to put a plan in place to make certain we don’t find ourselves once again fighting relegation. It’s one hundred per cent certain you can’t do it year after year and continually survive.”
The Palace locals in the Tavern will be pleased with the manager’s comments that he does not expect to be leaving Selhurst Park in the summer, however, a number of the punters will be hoping he remains defiant in his stance when it comes to Zaha and any offers that may be forthcoming for the Ivorian.
