Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern continue to be frustrated with their manager, despite witnessing their side defeat Huddersfield at The John Smith’s Stadium.
The Toffees ending up comfortable winners on Saturday afternoon, with goals from Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse helping to keep them eighth in the Premier League after a disastrous start of the campaign.
The Goodison Park outfit had struggled in the opening months of the season and decided to let Ronald Koeman go and decided to replace him with Sam Allardyce. The decision to hire the former England boss did not go done well with many in the bar, and despite turning things around, he still has many critics.
Big Sam himself has acknowledged the fans have not been supportive of his tenure and has finally admitted that there is not much more he can try and do to win them over, telling Sky Sports after the game that he hoped he can convince them to trust him one day.
“I can’t honestly produce any more than I’m doing,” he told Sky Sports.
“I’m sorry if some fans don’t like it, but we’re trying as hard as we possibly can, both myself, the staff and the players.
“What can I say when you’ve got 14 points out of seven games when we were in a position of difficulty when I arrived.
“I can only say it’s just one of those things and if we keep winning hopefully they might change it to love.”
The Everton fans in the Tavern will be looking for the side to finish their remaining two matches off in positive form and then will look for the board to sort things out in regards to their manager. A number of locals will be pleased that Allardyce has kept them in the Premier League, however, punters may still want someone different in charge at Goodison Park next season.
