Key Tottenham figure delivers clear message about his long-term future – report

Tottenham Hotspur will be preparing for their match with Watford on Monday and fans in the Transfer Tavern will be breathing a sigh of relief after Mauricio Pochettino’s recent comments.

The manager made remarks after their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United that the club would need more time with him or another manager, however, he has decided to clarify those opinions by insisting his future remains at the club.

As Sky Sports noted, Pochettino revealed that he still intends to see out the remainder of his contract, which has three years left on it, and he could even decide to stay beyond his current deal.

“It was not a message I was sending out to someone, I was only explaining in the context of the question that the project is so strong [and] we believe in this project,” he quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“The club cannot behave like different clubs and I think the club needs to keep going with the project, keep pushing in this direction, trying to achieve all the things that the club wants.

“But it was not a message for someone. It was what I felt and I told you how I feel.

“I am working, and I work, in every single project at every single club like I am going to be here for life. The only thing I wanted to translate is that the club is in the right way, that we cannot compare, that we need time to win.”

“I think it is an exciting project at Tottenham, different to other clubs, but I still have a three-year contract and obviously there is a decision. I always say football is the present and then the decision comes from the owner of the club, my boss, Daniel, to trust or not trust myself.”

Landlord’s Verdict

The Tottenham fans in the Tavern will be delighted to hear that Pochettino does not want to leave the club in the near future and will be encouraged by the fact that he will be building the team on the basis that he will remain with the Lilywhites for the rest of his career.
