West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are moping around after hearing some potential catastrophic news that could have a drastic impact on the remainder of their season.
The Telegraph state that Carl Jenkinson will return to Arsenal immediately after suffering a serious ligament injury in his left knee, sustained during West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Saturday.
Jenkinson, midway through his second loan spell with the Hammers, is expected to be out for the remainder of the season and the injury could effect Arsenal’s own transfer business, particularly concerning the exit of Mathieu Debuchy.
Arsenal will now be extremely reluctant to let Debuchy join Aston Villa permanently and will demand a recall clause in the deal, with the Gunners looking thin on the right-side with just Hector Bellerin and Calum Chambers, the latter of which is adapting to a central-midfield role.
If Jenkinson sees his loan cancelled, West Ham will explore the option of another domestic loan signing until the end of the season as Slaven Bilic’s side push to bring European football with them when they move to the Olympic Stadium in the summer.
Our landlord is gutted Jenkinson is crocked as he’s a big fan of the England international, who he backs to have a bright future.
