The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that their 24-year-old German shot-stopper Loris Karius has won the German Football Ambassador award for the 2017/18 season. The award is given to German players playing outside of the country who best portray a positive image of Germany around the world. You can read more on Karius’ award on the Liverpool website.

The award, decided on a public vote, is a testament to Karius for his achievements this season. The German shot-stopper has been key to Liverpool in their Champions League run as they look forward to their trip to Kiev to take on Real Madrid in just under three weeks time. The form of Karius has come at the same time as the form of Liverpool’s defensive line, with Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson being the main performers.
Karius was given the honour last night at a ceremony in Berlin as he pipped the likes of Toni Kroos and Leroy Sane to the award, who have been superb for Real Madrid and Manchester City respectively this season. Despite their heroics for their clubs, the form of Karius, coupled with his achievement in reaching a Champions League final with Liverpool has helped the German public decide that Karius is deserving of the award.
