Klopp delivers a negative update for Liverpool, but there is a chance that good news could be on the horizon

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern enjoyed their day in the pub on Boxing Day. The Reds were treated to a 5-0 clinic from their side, with Swansea City standing no chance against Jurgen Klopp’s deadly side. Indeed, there is a hope amongst our resident Reds that the celebrations can continue through to the new year, with a couple of big games on the horizon.

However, Jurgen Klopp has provided some bad news ahead of those games. According to Klopp, and via fitness expert Ben Dinnery on Twitter, the duo of Alberto Moreno and Jordan Henderson have been ruled out of Liverpool’s two upcoming fixtures, giving the German somewhat of a selection dilemma leading into the games. There is some good news, though, as their continued absence beyond that period has yet to be confirmed, offering reason for optimism.

Indeed, it appears as though neither player will be out for a prolonged period of time heading into 2018, with their individual cases likely to be considered on a week-to-week basis. Though, clearly, this is bad news for Liverpool, it does have a silver lining in that regard.

Leicester City and Burnley are the two opponents for Liverpool over the coming week, and so it won’t be easy for the Reds to pick up six points without their talented duo, but with a game against Man City on the horizon, Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for a return for that fixture.

Landlord’s Verdict

The absence of Alberto Moreno hasn’t been a big issue in recent weeks, and so Klopp won’t be concerned in that regard. The injury to Jordan Henderson, though, is somewhat more of an issue.

As Liverpool’s captain, he is crucial to the makeup of this side, and so there will be a void in leadership over the next week or two.

That being said, midfield depth is Liverpool’s strong suit, and so Klopp has options.
