Klopp discusses 25-year-old midfielder, fires sly dig at Chelsea

Liverpool’s signing of Mohamed Salah has divided the fans in the Transfer Tavern…

Whilst the Reds are pretty excited at the thought of it, other fans are pointing back towards Salah’s spell with Chelsea in which the 25-year-old struggling to adapt to the Premier League. Until he gets a chance to impress in the Premier League, those reservations are likely to remain in place.

According to the Telegraph, Jurgen Klopp has now had his say on Salah, though, and in turn, he has fired a sly message at Chelsea following Salah’s disappointing spell in London.

Discussing Salah’s failed stint with Chelsea, he said: “A lot of players have shown it is quite easy to struggle at Chelsea. (Kevin) De Bruyne is one”.

“He (Salah) struggled at Chelsea because it was too early. Then he went to Fiorentina and then Roma…He was quick, he played a lot of games, he created goals and chances and he scored by himself” Klopp¬†elaborated.

It must be noted that Salah was still a developing player when at Chelsea, and since then – as Klopp mentions – he has really impressed. In Serie A for both Fiorentina and Roma he was a star, and so a big move seemed inevitable for the Egyptian.

Klopp’s comments about Chelsea have also generated a lot of discussion in the Transfer Tavern, with the 25-year-old’s stint in London an unmitigated failure. Like Klopp says, he wasn’t the first – nor will he be the last – player to move to Chelsea and struggle, and so it remains to be seen whether the Blues will live to rue that mistake.
