The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern still think very highly of Daniel Sturridge…
It seems like a long time ago that Sturridge was considered one of Europe’s most deadly forwards – having formed a lethal partnership with Luis Suarez at the tip of the Liverpool attack. In the years since, the Englishman has fallen off the rails somewhat, and Jurgen Klopp has rarely opted to utilise him.
That could change this weekend against West Ham, though, with the manager seemingly hinting that Sturridge could be given a starting berth. Discussing the striker, according to the Guardian, Klopp said: Top players…they have impact…It’s another week we’ve had him training and so far so good, so hopefully, we have a few options.”
Elaborating, Klopp continued: “When he was fit he was always a real option for us. And it is again now like this”.
The German is clearly a big fan of Sturridge, but circumstance has meant that he has rarely been an option this year. Injury problems have really put a halt to his career, though a recent surge of fitness does seem to suggest that the tide is beginning to change.
Sturridge’s form in the 2013/14 campaign placed him amongst the upper echelon of strikers in Europe – and our landlord is backing him to get back to his best.
