The Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are starting to get twitchy with the club’s business having slowed after the signing of former Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah.
The Reds had already added youngster Dominic Solanke after the England U21 ran his contract down at Stamford Bridge, but our resident Merseysiders want to see more from manager Jurgen Klopp this summer.
One name which is being mentioned on a daily basis is that of RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, who could prove crucial to the Reds’ success as they look to take on the top four once more whilst also making a mark on the Champions League.
On the subject of the £22.95m-rated midfielder, we have news for the punters here in the bar this lunchtime coming from The Mirror. The tabloid claim that Klopp is ready to up his bid for the 22-year-old to £70m, after seeing an offer of £66m snubbed by the Bundesliga side.
The Guinea international has a £50m release clause in his current contract, however, that does not kick in for another year and the sense here in the bar is that Liverpool will need such a midfielder in the squad this season if they are to continue their progression under Klopp.
Liverpool fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think Leipzig will bend and accept the latest move? Let us know…
