One rumour we’ve heard at the Football Transfer Tavern lately can be put to bed, as Martin Blackburn of The Sun revealed Manchester United target Robert Lewandowski will not be heading to Old Trafford this January.
Sir Alex Ferguson has been pursuing the Polish international for some time, and was keen to raid Dortmund once more in January in the hope of adding another striker to his squad to help in the title run in.
But Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has revealed his star striker will be going nowhere.
Klopp said: “I’m not afraid he will be leaving us. He will still be here in January.
“United are one of many teams showing interest in him but I have no worries. His contract is with us.
“The time when there were big, rich English clubs coming here to try to lure our best players away from Germany, thank God that time is over.”
Ferguson is still happy with the strikers at his disposal, and may go back for Lewandowski in the summer.
Do you think a striker should really be top of Sir Alex’s priorities anyway? Vote in our polls below.
