Liverpool are riding a wave of change, that much is clear, and the fans in the Transfer Tavern couldn’t be any more excited. Jurgen Klopp is really transforming his team, and with the help of new signings like Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, it’s clear that the Reds are a team on the up.
In truth, they now aren’t far away from becoming a real force in the Premier League, and with one or two additions, they could look to rival Man City in the second-half of the season.
Liverpool’s attack is arguably their most impressive area of quality, with the aforementioned Mo Salah leading the way for Jurgen Klopp. The departure of Philippe Coutinho was, undoubtedly, painful – but they’re still only a signing or two away from making their attack unstoppable. Klopp would be wise to invest in this area before January comes to an end, and one player that would be a fantastic signing is Nabil Fekir, who is rated at £45 million by Transfer Markt.
This season, Fekir’s form has been simply sensational. With an average rating, according to Who Scored, of 8.17, he has only been bettered by Neymar and Lionel Messi this season – and that is quite the company. A stunning attacking midfielder, he has proven his sensational quality on the ball this term, with fantastic technical ability, dribbling and passing turning him into the complete attacking midfielder. In truth, his playstyle draws parallels with Philippe Coutinho – and that should go some way into describing just how good he is.
He has picked up 16 goals and earned 6 assists already this term, and there are sure to be more to come this season. If Liverpool don’t snap him up, someone else will, without a doubt.
A move for Fekir wouldn’t be easy, but if Liverpool were able to land him, Klopp’s attack would become the best in the Premier League. He’d add the creativity that they lack following the sale of Philippe Coutinho, whilst French international would likely link up fantastically with the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana. This move has no down-side, and he’d be a remarkable signing. In fact, his arrival would likely place Liverpool’s attack ahead of Man City’s in terms of raw quality, with Salah, in particular, also emerging as one of the best players currently in Europe.
