The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been absolutely delighted with some of their side’s attacking performances so far this season.
The resident Kopites lining up the bar in the tavern have been treated to plenty of goals this season with the likes of Roberto Firminho, Philippe Coutinho and Mo Salah spearheading Liverpool’s forward-line in the Premier League. The aforementioned players are all worthy of their own individual praise for their devestating displays this season, but it has been the performances of Mo Salah that have really captured the imagination of our punters clad in red and white.
Unsurprisingly, Salah’s electric opening to life at Anfield has been lauded from fans and pundits from far and wide throughout the season.
However, recent public appraisal of Salah’s form on Merseyside from Real Madrid’s manager Zinedine Zidane will naturally give the Liverpool supporters cause for concern.
With the careers of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo far from certain to be continued in Madrid beyond the end of this season, it looks as if the notorious ‘BBC’ era is on the brink of ending at Los Blancos.
Consequently, Zidane will be scouting the European market for his next generation of world-class attacking talent in the months to come, so his public praise for Salah should be ringing alarm bells for everyone involved at Liverpool.
If Liverpool want to continue to progress as a club then they will need to keep hold of their best players, and if they want to keep hold of their best players they will need to win a trophy this season.
History has proven that the lure of Madrid is consistently irresistible for the world’s top players, and Salah could well be on his way to the Spanish capital if Liverpool are unable to collect silverware this year.
The Premier League title is already out of the question due to Manchester City’s incredible opening to the campaign, but Liverpool still have an FA Cup and Champions League trophy to play for this season.
Quite simply, Jurgen Klopp must lead his side to victory in one of the two aforementioned trophies in order to convince Salah to snub Madrid, and remain on Merseyside beyond the end of the season.
