Klopp wants 17-year-old at Liverpool this season – report

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for Jurgen Klopp to turn his side’s form around…

It has been a tough few weeks for the Reds, with very little success happening on the field. A draw against Man Utd over the weekend was a decent result for a club that was likely fearing the worst, but it’s clear that a lot of improvement is still needed. What has got the fans in the pub talking today isn’t their draw at the weekend, though. In fact, they’re far more focused on the future of one of their most talented young players.

Reports from the Sun suggest that young Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster could yet have an immediate future at Anfield – with Jurgen Klopp said to be keen to reject any and all advances for a short-term loan move. Though that has brought on speculation that he could feature imminently, the Sun goes on to note that his chance is unlikely to come anytime soon, seemingly with Jurgen Klopp keen to just keep him around in an effort to train him.

It would certainly be a show of faith from the manager to make the decision to keep him at the club, but it certainly bodes well for his long-term future. He has enjoyed a fruitful spell in his progression, with the forward impressing for his country. Impressive on the ball, technical and a lethal goalscorer, Brewster certainly has the talent to make it at the top.

Landlord’s Verdict

Whilst this show of faith is certainly significant, it could backfire on Jurgen Klopp. If he is going to play occasionally, then it’s great, but a lack of game time could slow his progression. Just look at what someone like Tammy Abraham of Chelsea has done on loan. He has come into the Premier League and looked good, and Brewster could have a similar impact if he were to depart temporarily.

It remains to be seen how this will play out.
