Last season saw the breakthrough of Trent Alexander-Arnold into the Liverpool first team and after his rise to the top and Curtis Jones’ superb pre-season, Jurgen Klopp has spoken in an interview for the Liverpool website where he’s claimed that it’s so important to have Scousers in his first-team.
“I love it, I love it! It’s important for this club,” https://t.co/V5nyOr2oMP

Since Klopp came in he’s tried to get the balance right between promoting youth and bringing in new faces. This summer has seen the pendulum swing towards new signings, with four new faces being introduced at Anfield. However, Klopp hasn’t neglected his youth, with Curtis Jones, Rafa Camacho, Nat Phillips and Ben Woodburn all playing their part in the club’s pre-season.
Over the Premier League era, Liverpool have been blessed to see some of their best players come from their own city, with Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler having all been born in Liverpool. Klopp will be keen to keep that legacy of Merseyside born players in the first-team going and with Alexander-Arnold having such a string season it looks like the German gaffer is holding true to that.
