Koeman plotting double deal to take summer spending past £100m

The Everton fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are in somewhat of a daze after a stunning two weeks of transfer business at Goodison Park which has seen manager Ronald Koeman splash almost £100m on his squad.

As per BBC Sport, the Toffees have splashed over £90m already so far in this window and if reports from The Sun are accurate it won’t be long before the £100m barrier is broken.

The tabloid claim that Koeman is looking to bring in two more forwards in the coming weeks, with a triumphant Merseyside return for Manchester United’s all-time record goal scorer Wayne Rooney on a free transfer before a £20m move for out-of-favour Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.

Our landlord reckons that should the powers that be at Goodison make their move for the French striker, he would be very keen on joining up with Koeman in the North West, having been stuck on the bench for large parts of last season at The Emirates – despite his goals contributing to key moments across the campaign.

While both Rooney and Giroud are proven Premier League goal scorers, our resident Toffees fans can’t see them being anywhere good enough to cover for Romelu Lukaku should he leave this summer.
