According to Croatian media, Niko Kranjcar is officially on the transfer list and wanted by Bayern Munich.
With Bale becoming a winger rather than a full-back, it was expected that David Bentley would be out of the door; however, it looks like Kranjcar might be the man to go.
Despite Kranjcar wanting to stay in London, it is unlikely that West Ham or Fulham could afford his approximately £55k wages. While no other London club would want him. This leaves the door wide open for Bayern Munich.
It could well be that Bayern would see him as a replacement to Franck Ribery and their interest in the Croatian is further evidence that they are resigned to losing the French starlet.
The other possibility is that Louis Van Gaal may well see the 26-year old as an upgrade to current winger, Hamit Altintop, who could well command a similar sort of fee as Kranjcar, making it very similar to a swap deal financially for Bayern, with Juventus possibly turning to the Turk after a failed bid for Kranjcar themselves.
Either way, news of Bayern’s interest in Kranjcar will alert big clubs all across Europe to the possibility of Ribery leaving to go to La Liga, Serie A or the Premiership, with Manchester United and AC Milan on high alert.
So, is Ribery off?
