Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were disappointed to see Ashley Cole leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
But according to the Daily Express, they will soon have their replacement after Filipe Luis rejected extension talks with Atletico Madrid.
The 28-year-old Brazilian is so intent on moving to Stamford Bridge that he has cut off all contact with the Spanish capital-based club and is giving representatives the silent treatment.
Reports suggest that Filipe Luis is unhappy with his wages in Spain and thinks a move to Chelsea will help raise his reputation and also enhance his chances of regular international recognition with Brazil.
Atletico have grown accustomed to Chelsea’s pursuit of their key assets with the Blues having already held talks with both Diego Costa and Tiago.
And Los Colchoneros are willing to sell Filipe Luis to the West London club for £19 million – so now it’s up to Roman Abramovich to open the chequebook.
Chelsea fans. Is £19 million too much for a 28-year old left back who can’t get into the Brazil squad? Let us know your thoughts below.
