Here in the Football Transfer Tavern, the Daily Mail have Chelsea fans looking up from their pie and chips as it is claimed that Valencia are interested in taking one of their forwards this summer.
The Spanish club have been looking for a replacement for Roberto Soldado who of course made the move to White Hart Lane breaking transfer records for the North London club in the process and now it seems that they are eyeing a Premier League replacement.
The club have noted that both Demba Ba and also Romelu Lukaku would fit in well at the Mestalla and would not be opposed to taking either of them to the club and trying to make up for the goals they have lost now their star man has departed.
The club are not short of money after the sale of Soldado and are willing, for once, to reinvest in another top player.
They are fully aware that Lukaku is young enough to develop even more and become somewhat of a legend at the club – yet know that neither Chelsea nor the player himself would be keen on a move.
Jose Mourinho has identified the young Belgian forward as one of his key players, and it would take somewhat of a miracle to let the player go, especially if the Blues fail to land Wayne Rooney.
Demba Ba however is an altogether more realistic prospect after Mourinho privately admitted he did not think the former Newcastle United player had a future at the club and a reasonable offer could see him allowed to leave – and get the first team football he seeks.
