La Liga forward reveals all on proposed Chelsea move

The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have mixed opinions on this deal…

Rumours were rampant in the Football Transfer Tavern over the summer, with a variety of players linked with a moved to Chelsea amid Antonio Conte’s Blues revamp.

One of those players was now-Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata – with Chelsea reportedly keen to launch a big-money move for the talented Spaniard.

Everyone in the Tavern thought the deal was close to happening – but even our landlord didn’t realise that it was this close…

Morata recently spoke to Sport Bild (Quotes sourced via ESPN FC) and revealed that Chelsea were keen to land him over the summer.

“Chelsea showed the most interest,” he said.

Elaborating, Morata confirmed that a deal was on the table: “It was a very good offer…I would have been the most expensive Spanish player ever”.

Wow! The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern don’t know what to make of this.

Our landlord is a bit perplexed too. The Blues are definitely in need of offensive reinforcement, but Morata has done very little to prove that he is worth becoming the most expensive Spanish player ever.

Equally, our bar staff are slightly confused as to why Real Madrid didn’t accept the offer. Fernando Torres is currently the most expensive Spanish star – so it would have been a bid in excess of £50 million.

Crazy money!
