There are a few raised voices over by the jukebox from Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern over an article written by Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb.
Tutto Mercato Web are claiming that Barcelona are interested in the talented Newcastle United new boy Florian Thauvin.
Thauvin only signed for the Magpies last month, but Barcelona boss Luis Garcia is apparently ready to pounce for the talented attacking midfielder.
This news is unlikely to please Newcastle gaffer Steve McClaren who paid £12 million for a player he considers a vital part to turning around the fortunes of the North East side.
The 22-year-old has had his fair share of clubs in France playing for Grenoble, Bastia, Lille, and Marseille in what is still a fledgling career.
Barcelona’s interest comes following news that Rafinha is set for a long spell on the sidelines with the player suffering an ACL injury, and view Thauvin as the ideal replacement.
Barcelona who have been under a transfer embargo which will be lifted in time for the winter transfer window, so Thauvin’s stay on Tyneside could be cut short.
Thauvin is yet to represent France at full international level, but his potential talent is there for everyone to see, and with the attacking talent Barcelona possess would fit in well at the Camp Nou.
The punters here in the Transfer Tavern are having a good laugh about this news, as they think there is no way in the world that Thauvin is ready to play for a club like Barcelona.
