The Metro have us all looking up from our pints with the latest news in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that Fernando Torres could well be on his way out of Chelsea.
The forward who cost the side £50 million has never really settled at the Bridge and even former manager Rafa Benitez struggled to bring out the side we saw to the Spaniard during his spell at Anfield. Now it seems that North London side Spurs have set off a chain of events with their bid for Roberto Soldado that could well see Torres end up at Valencia.
Andre Villas Boas is preparing to lose Gareth Bale and has targeted Soldado as his replacement and is willing to pay around the £25 million mark for the Spanish forward. Valencia of course are fully aware that they need a replacement forward and have targeted the Chelsea man to be just that. We all know how much Torres loves Spain and add to that the clear doubts new manager Jose Mourinho has over his ability, not to mention the chase of Wayne Rooney, and it seems that Torres himself could well be keen on a move.
Despite noting that he is willing to give his all for the Blues, a move back to his homeland could well be the tonic Torres needs – sitting on the bench at Chelsea certainly would not do it during World Cup year – and with Valencia prepared to bid £25 million – that could well be the case.
Will Torres make the move? Rate this rumour below.
