There are some interesting claims in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening as Metro report that Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez could join Atletico Madrid as part of the summer exodus from Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have suffered a transition season under new manager David Moyes and that sees the club in seventh place with only a handful of matches remaining.
This will see a host of long-serving players leaving the club over the summer with defenders Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra set to depart while Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand are likely to announce their retirements.
In attack there are doubts about Robin van Persie while the future of Mexican forward Hernandez remains up in the air.
The 25-year-old, who is set to star for his country at this summer’s World Cup, has once again struggled for regular first team football with Moyes limiting him to substitute and brief appearances.
This could see him looking for a new start with the La Liga high-flyers reportedly considering a move for The Little Pea as they seek a possible top-quality replacement for Diego Costa.
Costa has been repeatedly linked with a move away in the summer with Chelsea thought to be leading the chase and that could see Hernandez making the switch to Madrid as a result.
Should United do more to keep hold of Hernandez? Would it be a mistake to let him go? Let us know your thoughts below.
