And according to The Telegraph, the La Liga giants plan to raid Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Atletico have added both Nacho Monreal and Santi Cazorla to their transfer list this summer and Arsenal may be tempted to take the cash if they firm up their interest with a sizeable offer.
It is rumoured that Monreal is concerned at the amount of first team action he will get this season following the return to fitness of Kieran Gibbs.
The Spanish defender was understood to have agreed to sign with the Gunners as he was offered first team football upon his arrival from Malaga for £8 million last year.
And with wages of £60,000-a-week, Monreal is certainly not a cheap deputy left back.
The Gunners could also be tempted to cash in on Spanish schemer Cazorla despite the fact he only signed a new contract with the North London club in March.
That is because he may well find it difficult to keep a starting place at the Emirates Stadium this season with new signing Alexis Sanchez more than likely to take his place.
