The London Evening Standard have a claim that has Chelsea fans turning around while looking for our landlord here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The publication note that the Blues have placed Diego Costa at the top of their shopping list and are determined to land him in the summer.
The Blues have been looking for a top forward for some time now and it seems that despite the likes of Radamel Falcao and also Edinson Cavani potentially being on the move again in the summer, Jose Mourinho and his board want Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa.
The Brazilian-born forward has been prolific this season and has certainly added a rather large price tag to his head. Now it seems that Chelsea will have to pay a rather hefty fee to land him.
As our landlord notes, one of the things that Chelsea will certainly not be doing is bargaining with their on loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
They do however have the money from the Juan Mata sale, not to mention the fact that Roman has never really been shy when it comes to bringing forwards in and opening up his chequebook!
With Samuel Eto’o looking like he will return to Spain and Demba Ba not exactly impressing, a forward is certain to arrive in the summer.
Is Diego Costa the next big name striker to be arriving at Stamford Bridge? Let us know your thoughts below.
