“Lamb to the slaughter yet again” – Tottenham fans react to defender’s performance at Man City

The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern had a chance to watch Kyle Walker up against Kieran Trippier yesterday.

As Spurs travelled to the Etihad to take on Premier League leaders Manchester City, Trippier had a chance to prove that he was good enough to fill Walker’s boots this season.

But what they saw was quite the opposite.

Trippier found himself very exposed for much of the game and Leroy Sane caused havoc all game from the left wing, cutting inside and heading to the by line.

Man City eventually triumphed 4-1 with a Raheem Sterling brace, a Kevin De Bruyne strike and an Ilkay Gundogan header.

Spurs grabbed a late consolation through Christian Eriksen.

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern singled out Trippier for criticism after the game and many questioned why Serge Aurier did not play.
