Tottenham midfielder Érik Lamela has taken to Instagram to show fans that he has recovered from an injury that prevented him from playing in the season opener against Newcastle and much of preseason.

This will be a massive boost for Mauricio Pochettino as he faces a dilemma when it comes to selecting attacking midfielders in the coming weeks. With Lucas Moura picking up a slight injury in his side's victory at St James's Park on Saturday, as well as Son Heung-min heading to the Asian Games this August, Tottenham would have been fretting about their options.

Considering the fact that both Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen's workloads will be managed carefully by Pochettino after intense World Cup schedules, the return of the Argentinian (valued at £18m on Transfermarkt.co.uk), will come as a welcome relief.

Lamela, who signed a new contract in July, will be hoping to work his way into the starting squad for The Lilywhites after injuries have curtailed his progress at the club. He featured 29 times for Tottenham in all competitions last season, netting four goals, as he made his comeback after the season before where he only played 12 games.

Had Tottenham captured the signature of Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish during the summer transfer window, Pochettino would be less concerned, but this is a problem that may plague the north London club throughout the season as players battle fatigue.

It is unlikely that Lamela will start for Tottenham this Saturday when they host Fulham at Wembley, as Pochettino has a history of carefully easing players back into action, but this is a return that will certainly help the Tottenham manager sleep easier at night.
