Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern were disappointed while watching Manchester City parade the Premier League trophy around the city.
While the Red Devils could only manage second in the league, they have an FA Cup final against Chelsea to look forward to this weekend. Following their trip to Wembley, Jose Mourinho will begin to search for transfer targets to improve his squad looking to challenge the Citizens next term.
High on his agenda should be a new right-back with Antonio Valencia approaching the end of his career. The perfect long-term replacement for the Ecuadorian would be Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe. The 25-year-old has made 24 appearances for the French side and is valued at £20.8m by Transfermarkt. The Frenchman could be the latest name to depart the club with Kylian Mbappe having sealed his move to PSG this summer and the futures of Fabinho and Thomas Lemar uncertain.
Compared to Valencia, Sidibe is an improvement. According to Squawka, he has averaged more tackles and makes an equal amount of interceptions per game. He has also registered six assists for his team-mates, highlighting his crossing ability which could benefit Romelu Lukaku greatly.
The France international is also comfortable at left-back which will appeal to Mourinho in his quest to upgrade United’s full-back options.
