The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern were in awe at the team’s performance against Everton last weekend in the Premier League. Spurs posed a constant attacking threat and scored some sublime goals. The performances of Son Heung Min, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen were once again a talking point as they provided stellar service and support to the main man Harry Kane.
But strength in depth is a problem with the North London club. Erik Lamela is hit and miss while Moussa Sissoko has been a major flop at Spurs. Georges-Kevin N’Koudou has been shipped out on loan to Burnley and therefore Mauricio Pochettino might be tempted to bring in one top class attacking midfielder to add to his options this month.
Lucas Moura (rated at £34.2m by Transfermarkt) would be a brilliant addition. The diminutive, tricky Brazil international is said to be available for transfer as Paris Saint-Germain prefer to use other options in attacking midfield. Indeed, while he is being overshadowed by fellow countryman Neymar, Moura might be tempted by a fresh start elsewhere.
The 25-year-old is interested in a move to Spurs, according to reports in the French media, and he would provide them with an excellent fourth option in attacking midfield. The former Sao Paulo star has been with PSG since 2013 but it is now time for him to move away.
Playing under Pochettino is an attractive prospect for a player who is entering the prime of his career and will be hoping to kick on now. In just a few weeks, Tottenham will be facing Juventus in a massive Champions League match and the boost someone like Moura would add to the squad could seriously help. With the World Cup around the corner, Lucas Moura will have his eyes on a recall to the national squad. Spurs is the perfect place for him to stake that claim.
