The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased with the current squad at Mauricio Pochettino’s disposal. The Argentine has built quite the outfit, and it has led to a decent amount of success for the club.
However, there is no doubting that Harry Kane is on a level above many of his teammates. The Englishman could arguably play for any team in Europe, and so for Spurs, it’s important that they look to match that quality with new additions.
Fortunately for them, according to RAC1, Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele could be available in some form this summer – with the La Liga giants apparently offering him out to other clubs.
Rated at £72 million by Transfer Markt, a move certainly wouldn’t be cheap or easy for Spurs – but what a statement of intent it would be.
It hasn’t been the easiest run for Dembele in Spain, but over in Germany, he was a real star. Borussia Dortmund have a knack of developing impressive young attacking talents, and the Frenchman certainly enjoyed the benefits of that. A real force down the flanks, he only enjoyed one full season in Germany – but what a season it was.
He bagged 6 goals and 12 assists, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. He dazzled the German audience with his fantastic pace and dribbling, and that earned him a move to Spain.
Harry Kane, then, would be a huge benefactor of a potential move. Again, it would cost a lot, but Tottenham are at a stage in which they either need to match the likes of Man City and Man Utd or risk falling behind them. Signing Dembele would be a huge statement of intent, and this is an opportunity they cannot afford to miss.
