Landing England U21 international could be a game-changing transfer move for Pochettino’s Tottenham

The resident Lilywhites in the Transfer Tavern are concerned by their club’s lack of transfer activity so far this month.

Mauricio Pochettino is yet to make his first foray into the transfer market this month despite the fact his side remain outside the top-four. Tottenham began the season with every expectation of launching a title challenge after their 2nd placed finish in the last campaign, but they have struggled to emulate their success so far this season.

Tottenham are currently three points adrift of 4th placed Chelsea with 15 games to go, so the Spurs fans will fancy their chances of breaching the top-four by the end of the season.

However, the acquisition of new talent could prove to be essential if Tottenham are to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Although Tottenham are slightly short of options at centre-back, Pochettino should consider making a raid for Leicester City’s Demarai Gray this month to bolster his attacking options.

Aside from Son Heung-Min, Tottenham are lacking players who have the ability to drive at their opponents with pace and trickery to prise defences apart.

During his short career for The Foxes, Demarai Gray has shown that he has the potential to thrive for a top-four club in the Premier League even if his statistical record does not read too impressively.

But this could all change in a different environment, and the success of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Harry Winks proves that Tottenham is the perfect place for a young English talent such as Gray to realise their full potential.

Pochettino’s track record with young English players suggests that he is the ideal manager to enable Gray to improve his end product and add goals and assists to his game, so Levy should provide him with the funds to bring him to North-London this month.
