Against Man City last Saturday, Maurizio Sarri opted to leave both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud out of his starting eleven, with the former missing from the matchday squad entirely.

It's the clearest sign yet that the Blues' attacking options are not to Sarri's taste, and their poor form over the last few weeks has likely done little to convince him otherwise.

Underperforming forwards have cursed Chelsea over the years, with everyone from Andriy Shevchenko to Fernando Torres to, now, Alvaro Morata failing to live up to the hype at Stamford Bridge.

It's quickly proving to be a big problem for the club, and a win against Man City against all odds only masks a much bigger problem that is at large.

Clearly, it's something that Chelsea need to sort, and one mn that could help improve things for the club is Maxi Gomez, who is rated at £27m by Transfer Markt.

Gomez, who currently plays for Celta Vigo, has performed brilliantly in La Liga this term. He's bagged 8 league goals from 11 starts, which highlights his efficiency, whilst his 4 assists bring his total goal involvement up to 12.

An imposing forward, Gomez is a real hit in the air, given the physical nature of his playstyle, and so unlike Alvaro Morata, he'd be more than comfortable playing in England without being knocked off the ball with ease. He's perhaps slightly more route-one than Sarri would like, but his style is effective nonetheless.

Take nothing away from him, however, he's certainly not bad with the ball at his feet. His finishing is excellent, whilst he's more than capable linking up play and holding onto the ball.

Furthermore, at just 22-years-old, he's a player that's only going to get better.

Chelsea need more options going forward, or a title challenge will be impossible. Gomez could be just the ticket.
