Landing this £22.5m-rated attacker would complete Chelsea’s attacking lineup – agreed?

For the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, the summer transfer window will be absolutely vital. The Blues simply haven’t been up to par this season, and regardless of whether Antonio Conte stays or goes, it’s clear that improvement is needed up and down the pitch.

One area that is in particular need of reinforcement is the attack. Eden Hazard has been usual fantastic self this season, but the inconsistency of both Willian and Pedro has been a problem. Not to mention, ideally the Blues need another body in there to allow for full rotation – given that two attacking midfielders are typically on the pitch at any one time.

Clearly, then, a new attacking midfielder should be signed this summer, and our landlord thinks that Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, who is rated at £22.5 million by Transfer Markt, would be the perfect addition.

Zaha has been the standout figure at Crystal Palace over the last few years, with his fantastic pace, dribbling and enthusiasm going forward proving to be problematic for some of the Premier League’s top teams – including Chelsea. What’s more, unlike many of Chelsea’s current crop of attackers, he has a real physical presence, and that translates fantastically when he runs forward and tries to drive past other players.

At 25-years-old, he’s a player that is only now beginning to play some of his best football, and during the early part of the season, he was the one shining light in an otherwise disappointing Crystal Palace team.

Significantly, he’s also a homegrown product – which is something that Chelsea are lacking at the moment – not to mention the fact that he is already vastly experienced in the English top flight.

Chelsea need a new attacker, and Zaha could be the perfect fit. Not only will he balance out the depth on each flank, but his direct, physical style of play will provide further variation for Antonio Conte – allowing him more options and tactics going forward.
