Landing this £5.4m-rated lynchpin could help Liverpool capture first title since 1990

Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are signing their songs as the Reds prepare for the upcoming Champions League final this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have knocked out Porto, Manchester City and Roma on their way to the final with Real Madrid standing in the way of their sixth European Cup. The Reds will be without many key players due to injuries with Emre Can and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both unavailable to Jurgen Klopp. The lack of squad depth could be a real problem next year if not addressed this summer.

With the window now open, Klopp has the perfect opportunity to bolster his ranks with Liverpool also qualifying for the Champions League next year. Centre-back will be an area of concern with fitness concerns over Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip. Therefore, Klopp should add another defender.

The man for the job could be Burnley defender – James Tarkowski. The 25-year-old has enjoyed another stellar season for the Clarets who secured Europa League football by finishing 7th in the Premier League. He was tasked with replacing Michael Keane who left for Everton in the summer and was rewarded by making his international debut in March. This saw his market value increase to £5.4m according to Transfermarkt.

Tarkowski is a powerful defender who would add much-needed depth to the Liverpool backline. Confident on the ball and strong in the air, the former Oldham man would be a great move by the Reds.
