Liverpool Boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to finally complete his Liverpool overhaul with the signing of Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The Dutchman, who only has one year remaining on his current contract with the German club, scored an incredible 29 league goals in 32 games for the club last season, helping him regain the title as one of Europe’s most deadly strikers after several years out of the limelight thanks to ill-advised moves to the likes of Real Madrid.
With the departure of Andy Carroll to West Ham on loan, Borini still finding his feet in the Premier League, and Suarez, despite all his skill showing he is not an out and out scorer. Liverpool boss Rodgers sees Huntelaar as the final piece of the puzzle to implement the same attractive football he instilled at Swansea City.
His record speaks for itself overall. Despite his moves to Real Madrid and AC Milan not turning out as well as expected, Huntelaar boasts a goalscoring record that most strikers can only dream of achieving. With 188 goals in 285 appearances, he represents the perfect in the box goalscorer that Rodgers is looking for. With his preferred style of play being to pass around the opponents side of the pitch, and with Luis Suarezs undoubted skill. Huntelaar would represent a coup for a team that has certainly fallen by the wayside in recent seasons.
While his value is yet to be determined, With only one year on his contract remaining. The Hunter as he is known would certainly not be a bank breaker for Liverpool, and with Tottenham’s interest in him decreasing over the past few years. Rodgers seems relatively unchallenged in trying to sign a player who would surely be determined to test himself in the Premier League.
