The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are slowly coming around to the idea of their club signing Alvaro Morata this summer…
The Blues have been touted with a move for several weeks, though it appears as though a move for the Spaniard will be anything but plain sailing. According to the Sun, Arsenal have joined Chelsea – as well as Man Utd – in chasing the striker this summer, with the London-based outfit reportedly ready to cough up a whopping £50 million to get the deal done.
This is undoubtedly bad news for Chelsea, as extra competition is likely to drive his price up even more, potentially pricing the Blues out of a deal. What’s more, the prospect of more game time at Arsenal could well prove tempting for Morata – potentially leaving the Blues in the cold.
Of course, Arsenal’s need for offensive depth is pretty clear – with Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck not exactly reliable up front for the Gunners.
For Morata’s part, he would certainly improve the potency of the Arsenal attack. He has scored an impressive 15 goals this season, leaving the Gunners in the pub hoping for a deal.
