The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to grow tired of the saga surrounding Diego Costa…
The Spaniard looks set to leave the Blues this summer after Antonio Conte revealed that he was not in his plans ahead of next season, with the forward yet to link up with his team for any sort of pre-season training.
However, whilst he has been expected to leave all summer, there appears to have been relatively little progress on the matter, with the Spaniard seemingly no closer to finding his next club.
Now, however, it looks like Costa is ready to try and force through an exit – with his lawyer revealing to EFE that the Spaniard will request a move this summer. He said: “We are going to use all legal mechanisms to hold Chelsea accountable…We will formally request the transfer”.
In theory, this would speed up a move as it would likely get all parties on the same page. It will, at that point, be clear that Diego Costa is ready to move on and so Chelsea could potentially look to seal a deal quickly, rather than treading on egg shells as they appear to be doing now.
It’s been a strange summer at Stamford Bridge, and whilst much of the news so far has been positive, the Diego Costa saga has really put a cloud over it.
Chelsea will undoubtedly be a poorer side without Diego Costa involved, but it looks as though there is no way back for the Spaniard.
A formal request will be Costa’s final attempt to turn the page on a mixed spell in the English capital, and Chelsea will now likely look to get a deal done quickly.
With Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi both looking good, Costa’s time in London is surely at an end.
