Newcastle United have once again defied the odds under Rafa Benitez to secure their Premier League status for another season.

Despite off field problems once again tarnishing things for the club, Benitez has worked his magic and got the Magpies more than safely secured in the lower to mid-table area of the top flight.

However, with news this weekend emerging which suggests that Benitez could be wanted by the likes of Marseille and PSG, it really does mean it is now or never for Newcastle to act and back their manager to ensure he stays with the club.

Benitez has been vocal about what he needs at the club and with those sorts of clubs circling from Europe, Newcastle simply have to bow down to what Benitez wants if they want to keep hold of the former Valencia man.

New signings will be a must, and Mike Ashley must be fully aware that this current squad would be nowhere near the position it is in if it wasn't for Benitez and his coaching skills and experience.

While money isn't always everything in regards to getting success, it does make a massive difference for clubs like Newcastle, who will be well aware of the teams coming up into the division and the money that those teams may look to spend themselves.

Newcastle do have quality in the squad as it is, but if they can back the Spaniard with funds to bring in those one or two extra bodies who can bring something else to the table, then they could well find themselves challenging for Europe under Benitez.
