Latest development suggests that West Ham transfer is edging closer

The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that this saga will come to an end over the next few days…

Dimitri Payet has been the main talking point amongst the punters in the Transfer Tavern over the last couple of the weeks, with his West Ham future still looking uncertain – with just a few days remaining in the January transfer window.

West Ham have maintained that Payet will not be sold this month, with Slaven Bilic keen to hold on to his best players, but the latest development in the saga does hint towards an impending conclusion.

According to the Daily Mail, Payet has been excluded from West Ham’s impending training camp in the United Arab Emirates – with the Hammers brass concerned that his inclusion could disrupt squad harmony amongst the other players in the squad.

Significantly, the Daily Mail also note that, at present, there is no route back into the first team for Dimitri Payet – and with Marseille reportedly increasingly confident that a deal to sign the midfielder can get done – it would appear as though a West Ham exit is edging closer for Payet.

At this point, many of the West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern simply want to see the back of Payet. Sure, he is one of their best players – but at the moment, he is simply causing far more trouble than he is worth.

Payet has struggled this season, which might be reflective of his unhappiness at the London club, having scored just twice so far.

They will definitely struggle without him going forward, though, as last season he was unstoppable – as the video below shows…
