The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to get very excited about their new stadium…
Though the building and completion of the ground remain some way off, Chelsea are continuing to impress fans with the way that the process is developing – and a report from the Evening Standard serves as a means of reinforcing that fact.
As per the Evening Standard, Chelsea have reportedly begun searching for sponsorship for their new ground. However, the Blues in the pub have no real need for concern – with the name ‘Stamford Bridge’ apparently set to remain regardless.
This news has delighted the fans in the pub, with many fearing that the ground may be sold off to corporate sponsors – leaving Stamford Bridge as just a memory for supporters. It doesn’t appear that way, though, with any sponsorship rights likely to be secondary to the name of the stadium.
The ground, which will cost the club millions, is unlikely to be finished anytime soon – but that hasn’t stopped the excitement building.
That being said, whilst Chelsea’s stadium will certainly be a regular topic of conversation for the Chelsea fans in the pub this summer, there are far more pressing issues on the mind. In particular, the Blues’ quickly concluding race to be crowned Premier League champions.
A win against West Brom on Friday will get Chelsea the three points they need to secure the title, and there is a real air of anticipation in the pub as the Blues await their seemingly inevitable crowning.
