Latest player update spells bad news for Spurs as pre-season return looms

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their side will be reinvigorated at the start of next season…

With an influx of new faces expected, and the return of several key stars also being hoped for, the fans in the pub are feeling very optimistic about next season. Last season was a successful one, with a second place finish in the Premier League, and so many supporters are hoping for another title challenge next year.

However, it appears as though their preparations to that end have suffered a blow, with The Times reporting that Tottenham have a host of injury concerns at present – with pre-season training set to begin in just a few short weeks for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. According to The Times, Erik Lamela may be unavailable until October, whilst Danny Rose is also set to miss the start of the season having yet to fully recover from a knee injury. Elsewhere, Son Heung-min, who suffered an injury whilst representing his native South Korea, has had surgery on an injury – and the prospect of his return is said to be unknown.

Regardless of any potential arrivals this summer, this is certainly a huge blow for Tottenham. Danny Rose, in particular, is one of Mauricio Pochettino’s most trusted players, and given that he has already been missing for several months, the Argentine will surely be very disappointed that the defender is set to miss even more game time. Son impressed last season too, and the fact that his injury occurred whilst on international duty is likely to anger the Tottenham brass.

Indeed, the Spurs fans in the pub are feeling decidedly less optimistic ahead of next season now, and are hoping that a few major signings can make them feel slightly better.
