Here at the Football Transfer Tavern not only do we like to keep an eye on players and their potential moves but we love a bit of gossip about managers too and Sky Sports have provided that with news about Swansea City and Michael Laudrup.
The Dane has been nothing short of sensational at the helm of the Swans since taking over from Brendan Rodgers and has even taken them to the next level – something few would have bet on in the summer. Once most people’s favourites for the drop, Swansea are now an incredibly hard team to beat and have a bundle of talent to boot.
Credited with bringing top quality players to the club – and one little known forward called Michu, Laudrup has become one of the biggest assets for the Premier League side. This has been recognised and the former Mallorca boss is set to be rewarded as the club are set to open talks about extending his current deal by 12 months.
Talks are set to be held in the ‘coming days’ according to Laudrup’s representative and despite the manager attracting interest from not only Chelsea but a host of La Liga sides, Laudrup is happy to remain at the helm of the Welsh side.
Swansea are of course gearing themselves up for the Capital One Cup final later this month and are sitting in a very lofty place of 7th in the Premier League.
Will Laudrup sign an extension as expected or will his eyes light up at other potential opportunities? Let us know your thoughts below.
