The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for their side to bring in a few big names this summer. The Blues have fallen off the wagon slightly when it comes to bringing in Europe’s biggest names, with the likes of Man Utd and Man City proving more successful in that regard over the last couple of years.
This summer, then, if the Blues are to have any chance of catching up, they need to muscle their way into those discussions, and our landlord thinks that a move for Hector Bellerin could provide the perfect platform to do that. According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have put a £50 million price tag on his head as they look to rebuild this summer.
Bellerin is the perfect player for Chelsea. An attacking defender, the Spaniard would fit in perfectly to Chelsea’s 3-4-3 system, providing the perfect balance of attack and defence.
He’s got excellent pace, which makes him an asset at both ends of the pitch, whilst his tackling, dribbling and work rate makes him a fantastic all-around performer in the role.
There’s certainly room for improvement at Chelsea, too. Victor Moses hasn’t been at his best this season, whilst Davide Zappacosta has yet to really show what he can do. Neither player would be able to get into the team ahead of Bellerin, that much is certain, and so he’d undoubtedly be an upgrade for the club.
At just 22-years-old, the Spaniard is, crucially, still developing – and under the tutelage of Antonio Conte, he could genuinely turn into one of Europe’s best. He just needs that extra bit of coaching to improve his consistency, and then this move will quickly look like a stroke of genius from Chelsea.
