Laurent Koscielny reveals he will leave Arsenal

Arsenal have been working hard this summer to build a side capable of challenging for a Champions League spot.

Unai Emery has already made a number of signings to improve his squad this summer as he looks to get the Emirates Stadium outfit back into a competition they have not featured in since the 2016/17 season.

However, the Gunners have just been rocked with the latest news coming out of the club, with one man stating that he will leave the north London outfit once his current deal expires.

According to a report by Nice Matin, via the Daily Mirror, Laurent Koscielny has confirmed that he will quit Arsenal in 2020, by which time he would have spent 10 years in the capital.

The 32-year-old admitted that he would be looking at moving on once it is up, but does not yet know where he could end up.

“I’m under contract until June 2020. Afterwards? I’m thinking of moving on, but I do not know where,” he told Nice Matin, via the Daily Mirror.

“This is not relevant anyway! I am in England, my family too. Then there will be inevitably a lot of question marks.

“The bottom line is to have health. I learned to revitalise because there are so many more serious things in life.”

The Verdict:

Koscielny’s revelation will surely devastate Arsenal as they would not have expected to have heard an announcement like that.

The 32-year-old has been a mainstay in the defence for the Gunners since his arrival in 2010 and has turned into one of the Premier League’s best defenders, despite having his problems in the early stages of his career at the Emirates Stadium.

The France international defender is currently out injured with a serious Achilles problem and is not expected to feature for Emery for a while yet, however, it will definitely give the Spaniard some unwanted news.
