Lazar Markovic omitted from Liverpool’s Premier League squad

Liverpool may have just dropped the biggest hint that one player no longer has a future at the club.

According to a report in The Sun, Lazar Markovic was not named in the club’s 25-man Premier League squad.

The Serbian winger, who decided against a last-minute loan switch to Anderlecht, is out of contract at Anfield next summer and it looks increasingly likely that he will make a permanent departure.

The 24-year-old has struggled to get going in the years that he has been with the Premier League outfit and has seen his time spent elsewhere for the majority of his Liverpool career.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were thought to be keen on offloading Markovic and did everything they could to try and shift him on, however, it now looks as though the winger could be forced to sit on the sidelines at least until the winter transfer window.

The Verdict:

Markovic’s omission from the Premier League squad essentially confirms that Liverpool have no plans for him to be a part of their squad moving forward.

For whatever reason, it appears he had the chance to restart his career with Anderlecht but decided against it and now he could be set to sit in the dark on Merseyside.

The £7.2million-rated winger, as per Transfermarkt, will now need to wait until January to make a move at the earliest, or risk not playing competitive football for a whole season, which could hinder his chances of finding another club next summer.
