A Europa League semi-final and a solid chance of finishing in the top four of the Premier League would have to be considered a hugely successful season for Arsenal. Unai Emery has taken well to life in English management and has certainly made an impression during his reign at the Emirates Stadium.
However, almost a year into his tenure at the Gunners, the Spaniard will now have a clearer picture in his head about what areas of the side he needs to improve to ensure the club compete for domestic honours in the future.
But, it appears he could face some trouble in the summer trying to land one of his transfer targets if the player’s agent’s comments are anything to go by.
What’s the News?
Leandro Trossard’s agent, Josy Comhair, has been speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws (via Sport Witness) about his client and a potential move to Arsenal.
The £12.6million-rated star’s (per Transfermarkt) representative admitted there was interest from the Premier League giants, however, cast doubt over a move by suggesting it could be risky for the 24-year-old.
“Arsenal could (sign him). But for his career it might be better that he first go to a club like Wolfsburg. If he plays there for two years, he can still go to Arsenal. If he goes straight to Arsenal and you don’t play there, then it might be mentally harder for Trossard,” Comhair said.
Trossard has arguably been one of the most exciting wingers to come out of Europe recently and it is no surprise to hear that a club like Arsenal are interested in him.
The 24-year-old has been in lethal form for KRC Genk this season, having notched 21 goals and nine assists in his 42 appearances across all competitions and could be the ideal man to help complete Emery’s attack at the Emirates Stadium in the summer.
The Belgian, who is yet to win a senior cap for his national side, operates as a winger on the left-hand side and could be the type of player that helps to take Arsenal’s already lethal attacking department up to another level, as he is incredibly quick and skilful.
However, it would appear the player’s representative has doubts about whether a move to the Premier League giants would be right for him at the current moment in his career.
With agents playing a huge role in their client’s career, that could be a potential stumbling block that Arsenal may find difficult to overcome unless they can make certain guarantees about how Trossard will feature in their plans moving forward.
Arsenal fans, what do you make of Trossard’s agent’s comments? Do you think it could make a move for the winger difficult? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
