Leeds United have been completely redefined under Marcelo Bielsa in the current campaign as they continue to build towards securing promotion to the Premier League.
The Whites currently find themselves in a promising position to really kick on and secure an automatic promotion place, with the likes of Patrick Bamford and Isaiah Brown returning from injury to boost their chances. And, it appears as if the Yorkshire club are edging closer towards securing a Premier League player, as according to The Bristol Post (via Read Newcastle), Freddie Woodman is closing in on a loan move to Leeds United.
Interestingly, Leeds United have seemingly won the race to sign Freddie Woodman on loan from Newcastle, beating Arsenal and Celtic to his signature.
However, this will only ever be a loan deal as it’s understood that the goalkeeper remains a part of Newcastle’s long-term plans.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been searching for an emergency loan signing after an injury crisis briefly left them with no senior goalkeeper, so they’ll be keen to get Woodman on board.
Woodman should flourish with regular game time in the Championship and could definitely save Leeds United’s blushes if another injury was to occur to Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
The Whites will be pleased to be edging closer to securing the youngster as he has the ability to do an outstanding job in-between the sticks, which could force Peacock-Farrell into going up another gear due to the added competition.
Indeed, the 21-year-old is arguably one of the most promising goalkeepers in English football, so supporters will be rather impressed that their side is bringing in a suitable replacement for the injured Jamal Blackman.
