Leeds fans can’t wait to see Barry Douglas playing for them in the top flight

Leeds fans will hate the fact that Barry Douglas’ season is over. Now that they’ve had time to process the news, though, the Scottish fullback has already undergone a successful operation on his damaged knee ligaments and the Whites have been wishing him well in his recovery, and cannot wait to see him in the Premier League next season.

Douglas played a key role for the Whites under Marcelo Bielsa earlier on this season and started their first 11 games in the Championship this season, chipping in with three assists. However, after that stretch of starts, two separate muscle injuries and the form of Ezgjan Alioski at left-back saw his game time start to dwindle before this latest spell on the sidelines.

Regardless of how his last few months at Elland Road have gone, the fans still believe that the 29-year-old Scottish defender has plenty to offer, and the £3 million that they parted with to bring him in from Wolves still looks like a snip. If all goes to plan in his absence, next season he could find himself returning to Molineux as a Leeds player, and he’ll be desperate to make it in the top flight.

The Whites can’t wait to have Douglas back and will hope that by the time he is back they’ll be a Premier League outfit once again.
